Op-Ed - Decades Drive-in

The Revival of the Drive-In
On a typical Friday night in Seguin, there is not much to do locally. Options are incredibly limited, and many young people often feel bored with the constant ennui of Seguin nightlife. However, Decades Drive-In theater is attempting to change this and revive Seguin’s lackluster nightlife not only for young people, but people of all ages. Drive-in theaters are hard to come by in today’s world, so this slice of nostalgia will attract those who miss the drive-ins of the past and those who want to experience one for the first time.  Decades Drive-In would provide a necessary boost to the entertainment sector of Seguin and provide quality entertainment to locals while also attracting people from surrounding areas. The Decades Drive-In Nonprofit already has many wonderful plans for the drive-in theater, such as themed movie nights and car shows.
Although some may argue that Seguin is not in need of another movie theater, Decades Drive-In would be so much more than the typical inside movie experience. Drive-ins allow for an atmosphere of leisure and engagement which the confines of inside theaters cannot offer. It would be a refreshing new entertainment hotspot in Seguin that provides safe fun for people of all ages in Seguin, and especially the large population of youths. Decades Drive-In would fill the hole in Seguin’s current nightlife as an outlet for the desire for wholesome family entertainment as well as a modern touch on a prolific piece of pre-twentieth-first century pop culture. Our drive-in is something that could be enjoyed for years to come for all members of this and surrounding communities.
