Executive Summary
Our mission is to be there for those who need us and those who don’t know they do. Our purpose is to provide a safe space for kids to learn, grow, and have fun. We will provide child care, education services, food services, art and music programs, swim lessons, and recreational games for Seguin youth. Our activities will be financed through private investors and donors, bank loans, partners and sponsors, fundraisers, and grants. The money we receive will be used to start our non-profit. The first stage of the Seguin Youth Center will be to purchase land in order to build a gym and classrooms for youth programs. The initial programs we plan to offer include art, literature, and music courses. In the future we plan to expand the Youth Center to include a natatorium, career development programs, and leadership initiatives. The Seguin Youth Center will provide a safe, fun, educational, positive experience for Seguin youth. The Seguin Youth Center hopes to teach youth to become independent, contributing members of the Seguin community.  Our nonprofit is unique because we are Seguin based. We understand the challenges facing the Seguin community every day and wish to better the city for all residents.
Our team is diverse and highly qualified. Together our team will work to provide the highest level of youth development.

Products, Programs and Services
The Seguin Youth Center will offer a wide variety of programs designed to benefit the development of Seguin youth. Once open, the Youth Center will begin by offering athletic programs such as basketball, volleyball, and soccer. It will also include fine art programs such as creative writing, poetry, studio art, and music. In the future the Center would like to offer more diverse programs such as leadership training courses, study skill courses, life skill courses, martial art classes, piano lessons, and swim programs. The Youth Center will strive to empower the youth of Seguin and make them feel engaged with the community around them. The Center will strive to create a sense of purpose and belonging for all youth. In today’s society many young people feel lost, unimportant, and unheard. One of the Center’s main priorities will be to make sure that every child feels heard, valued and important.  The ultimate goal of the Youth Center is to create the Seguin community leaders of tomorrow. Once the Seguin Youth Center is constructed it will be a safe, free place for all youth to come hang out, have fun, and prepare for their future place in the Seguin community.

  1. Just a simple little mistake I don't think y'all meant to do but y'all repeated the paragraph starting with "Our nonprofit is unique because..."
I like the way y'all are using the challenges in Seguin to better the community by programs and activities that are entertaining, but yet educational at the same time.

    2. I didn't even notice that. Thanks McKenzie!

  2. I'm concerned with how long it will take to attain the necessary teachers and staff to instruct and lead all of these various activities, because funding may not be constant for a non-profit that does not have much pay-off early on.

  3. This is a great idea, as I believe any child deserves the neccesity of fun and enjoying the company of others their age as well as receiving guidance for their futures. Will you try to utilize any of the parks or centers in specific that could be used for activity in the seguin area particularly? or would there be a whole other engagement into constructing something completely new?

  4. What is your specific plan for acquiring funding from a few of the sources you mentioned? Is there a guarantee you can receive them? Seguin, though is often thought of as small, still has a lot of potential land plots for a service like this. Where will your building make the most difference? Actually, why is this in Seguin? Is it the best place for your services?

  5. I think this is a great and much needed idea. One question I have is how do we know there is a need for this center(yes, I know it's obvious but looking from the perspective of a donor I would want facts)? Just because there isn't currently a youth center doesn't mean we need one. I think some facts showing the need or youth issues in Seguin would really help your case and ensure funding. Also, once everything is built, how are you going to sustain it? You'll need maintenance for the facility as well as pay or compensation for the staff. Just a couple thoughts.

  6. now this is an idea i can get behind! this is pretty great, creating a youth superpower like this in a place like Seguin. I think the only issue would probably be in trying to take in the account of the sub expenses, like staff and routine maintenance. also, why seguin? why not a larger city such as San Antonio, Houston, etc.

  7. This is a cool idea! I realize the people of Seguin could use this because I've lived here my whole life and know that there are little to no interesting things to do here, especially for kids. I agree with Kara though, you should look at it with an outside eye in mind that maybe doesn't even know where Seguin is.

I was thinking it could be really interesting if you could put some statistics about Seguin into your Products, Programs, and Services section about why we need this facility here.

  8. What a great idea, bettering the community starting at young age. I was wondering though, what age does this go up to? Many children don't start getting into much trouble until they're mid-teens so including that age group would be important to. Another thought, what about a comedy night? It wouldn't require them to learn anything like most of the other programs so it could attract a wider variety of children.

  9. This is a great idea! I really like this. I think you guys could be a little more specific in some spots, like for example, how is your team diverse and well-qualified? You say that, but you don't explain it. Also, I' ma little curious, will the kids and parents have to pay for these courses and child care?
