Hydration for Haiti, 501(c)(3), Executive Summary
“The universal language meets the foundation of life.”
Our mission is to provide clean drinking water to families in Haiti by bringing communities together through the love of music, and to raise awareness about the property rights struggle that prevents the community from accessing clean water on their own land. For the bigger picture our vision is to eliminate the water crisis in Haiti so that families can live without the worry of not having access to clean drinking water.
We are planning to achieve our purpose by providing photos and information of families in need and making them available for sponsorship at the purchase of tickets for music events around the state of Texas. The sponsorship includes the delivery of clean water to the families for one year through “Hydration for Haiti”, the option to keep in touch through writing letters and sending photos, and bi-annual updates on the sponsored families status. This keeps the sponsorship on a personal level and keeps the sponsors involved.
We are going to finance our activities by private donors, partnering with music festivals, concerts, artists. Initial money collected from private donors will be used for the start up cost to promote our non-profit, manufacturing branding products for additional sales, and equipment needed to set up booths. Profit made from ticket sales will go towards sending boxed water to families and raising awareness of the need to restore property rights to the citizens of Haiti.
Our primary product, program or service is bringing clean water to the families of Haiti in an eco-friendly way, by transporting the water in biodegradable boxes rather than plastic.
We will be targeting a wider audience, with an emphasis on younger generations. It adds a bigger purpose to attending concerts without the extra investment, it’s simply the redirection of profit. You can help save lives while enjoying the gift of music. This allows us to reach more people and raise awareness of the issues that need to be addressed.
After reading your summary I had a few questions. I feel if they're answered it will help make the summary stronger, but your summary is good!
ReplyDeleteSo... Why Haiti? How is your organization different than Water to Thrive on campus? Have you looked into local churches to see who they contribute to/ where they do missionary work? I know Faith Lutheran works with Lutheran World Relief and some of that involves sending things/ going down to Haiti. Just things to think about, but good job so far!
Going off of what Carly said, I agree that y'all should say why y'all chose Haiti particularly. Especially since there are a lot other countries that need water as well.
ReplyDeleteUsing music as a way to gain funding and awareness is a great idea, it is not boring or forceful. I don't know one person who doesn't like music, so this will have a great outcome!!
Great work!!!
This is a great idea!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea, but my biggest concern that popped up while reading this is that you often see sponsorships like this for abandoned pets or endangered animals, so be careful when promoting this so you don't compare people in Haiti to animals in need, as that may not go over well with some customers/audiences.
ReplyDeleteGood idea, but I think having all these peppy events like concerts and festivals somewhat undermines the importance of the issue. I'm not saying it's a bad idea, you'd just have to put a lot of emphasis on how important the issue is.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea. You've obviously done your research about this. Besides raising awareness about the issue, how is your organization helping to solve the property rights problem in Haiti? Once people are aware of the problem, what can they do to help?
ReplyDeleteGreat idea. A couple things to think about. You said your vision is "to eliminate the water crisis" but how are you doing that? Yes, you are sending clean water, but if this is all you do, then in order to keep the crisis at bay, you would have to send clean water for the rest of all time. A better approach may be to actually build wells or work to find water filtration systems that are cheap and easy to maintain so that the solution is sustainable and doesn't need you to raise money year after year for all of eternity. Plus, SHIPPING water for an entire country is very expensive.
ReplyDeleteThis is a sweet and wonderful idea. i like it alot. my only issues would probably lie in how exactly you're going to stop an entire water crisis, no offense, but the things you'll need for that will be more than just sending water to Haiti. If you're planning on only sending water as a relief group it'd probably be best to advertise like that. Don't turn yourselves into the problem solvers, otherwise, if you can't fix it, there could be serious backlash
ReplyDeleteThis is a really cool idea. One quick thing: you guys can get the text to be vertical by copy-pasting your text to a Word document and then copy-pasting it to the blog. We had the same issue. I'm left wondering, by your summary, how the water will be transported exactly?
