Our current program is the creation of a drive-in movie theater in Seguin. In the future, programs we plan to hold at the drive-in include vintage car shows, themed movie nights, and discount nights. These programs will bring a much-needed positive change in the entertainment sphere of Seguin, as well as bring members of the Seguin community together, regardless of age. This theater would also bring people from outside of Seguin from neighboring areas such as New Braunfels, San Marcos, and San Antonio to the city of Seguin. Moreover, the creation of such a drive-in could bring in more revenue to the city of Seguin as a whole.
While it is true that Seguin already has a movie theater, King Ranger Theater, we feel that Decades Drive-In will put forth an entirely new atmosphere and level of engagement to which King Ranger pales in comparison. At Decades Drive-In, we combine the leisure of watching movies with the iconic nostalgia of pre-twenty-first century drive-ins. The outside seating and the comfort of one’s own car as well as a newer, fresher venue are only two aspects of Decades Drive-In’s prominence over the already established King Ranger Theater. Thus, we feel that the creation of Decades Drive-In is both necessary and sensible.

  1. The future programs sound fun! I think a car show would bring in a lot of new people and a lot of money! Great idea!

  2. This is also a great way to bring TLU students (when you do discount nights.) Also, organizations from TLU can have events there which is a great way to bring the TLU community together and get them involved.
The antique car show is a great idea, especially for the older population in Seguin.

  3. I'm glad you are going for the nostalgia factor especially since there are so many older residents in Seguin who may not always be attracted to the same things that college students are.

  4. I love the idea of a drive thru theater in a small town like Seguin. I think it will really add to the small town charm that Seguin already has! Again, just be careful where you choose to locate it.

  5. What are some statics that could inform just how the business will operate? Like, how many tickets will be sold monthly, how many parking spots will you have, what kind of impact will you have on the local economy, that sort of stuff.

  6. What kind of movies would you be showing old, new both? I like your idea of having different activities along with the movie aspect! You could be more then just a Drive-In but a retro activities organization. You could hold sock hops and even open a old-timey diner. This would easily create a closer community in Seguin.

  7. How many drive-in screens will there be? And what side of town would you be aiming to build on- finding a place that isn't in the middle of no where would be ideal so it can be seen in a distance from the street. Love the idea of Emma's "retro activity organization", it'd be something new.
